Summer Juried Exhibition: Ecotone | Boundaries, Tensions, Integrations:
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 2, 5pm–8pm.
On display August 2–September 20, 2014
Gallery Hours: August Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm & by appointment, September Monday–Saturday, 10am–6pm & by appointment.
Closed on Labor Day.
Based on the notion of “ecotone,” derived from the Greek word for tension, this show features seventeen artists, each exploring and documenting in-between or transitional spaces through photography or video. Investigating interactions caused by human migration or displacement, urban encroachments onto nature, or environmental strain, these works question how we relate to borders and places of transience.
Join us as we explore different “ecotones”—from photographs concerning undisturbed deserts, urbanization, and refugee camps to works addressing immigration and liminality—and all of the meanings that can be discovered in these ambiguous spaces.
Invite your friends to see the show with you!
