What I really like about this video is the clear evidence of Jocelyn's aesthetic choices. If you watch films she made even just a few months prior to this, you can can clearly see her personal style as an artist and filmmaker developing. Every shot and transition seems quite thought out and intentional. In a lot of our filmmaking classes, we begin with having students break up into pairs and interview each other. I have found that this really helps the students get to know each other/build community as well as understand the sensitive nature of telling someone else's story. And of course, it's also a great way for the students to practice their interviewing, shooting and editing skills. |
