After applying to YoungArts without much thought or belief that I would actually win, I was inspired and humbled once I received notice that I was a finalist. The week in Miami went by extremely fast, as everyday was filled with activities and classes from 8 in the morning to late in in the evening. We had master classes with numerous professional photographers, and our group of panelists and RA's had experience in photography and other areas such as graphic design. Watching other finalists succeed was another inspiring aspect of the trip. Each photographer had a distinct and contemporary style, which I was extremely impressed with. Along with photography, I was awed by the talent from dancers, vocalists, designers, and more throughout the week. Each night was dedicated to focusing and displaying the work of a different medium. Our photography group were able to have an exhibition towards the end of the week, in which each artist was able to display between 2 to 5 printed photos of work that they had shot throughout the week. The experience as a whole shaped my High-School career and has motivated me and gave me confidence to pursue my dreams.
