Venice Arts' Executive Director, Lynn Warshafsky, was honored to speak at the Apex Centre of Photography in New Delhi, India, on April 13. Apex provides photo education and 1:1 mentoring in Delhi to amateur and professional photographers and, through the Nazar Foundation, is also a producer of the bi-annual Delhi Photo Festival. (Next Festival: 2015!)
Lynn discussed the history, opportunities, and challenges of participant-produced photography and film, as well as the unique components of our model of media-based mentoring and education for youth. She shared participant photography from our 21 year history, as well as the beautiful books created by our teen photographers and catalogues from several local, statewide, and international participant-produced documentary projects.
Lynn is in India to support a photo project of Jim Hubbard, who is documenting the programs and impacts of Cure India in their effort to "eradicate disability caused by clubfoot in India...and to enlighten the public that clubfoot can be treated and neglected clubfoot leads to lifetime disability."
