Neal Baer is a Harvard-trained physician, pediatrician, and award-winning television writer and producer. Currently the Showrunner for the CBS hit "Under The Dome," Neal was also the Showrunner and Executive Producer, from 2000 to 2011, of the NBC series “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. "Previous to this, he was an Executive Producer of "ER".

In addition to his work in entertainment, Neal is a Founder of the Social Change Institute, a documentary filmmaker, and the co-founder of the recently (2013) launched UCLA Global Media Center for Social Impact, where is a Professor of Medicine. Neal has also been Professor of Medicine at the University of Southern California's (USC) Global Health Institute and, from 2001 to 2008, was an adjunct professor teaching in the area of health communication, health promotion and disease prevention, and sex education at USC.

At Venice Arts, Neal co-founded The Institute for Photographic Empowerment—together with Venice Arts' Lynn Warshafsky and Jim Hubbard, and USC's Geoffrey Cowan, former Dean of the Annenberg School—and co-created Venice Arts' project on women and HIV/AIDS, The House Is Small But The Welcome Is Big, including working with Mozambican teenager, Alcides Soares, to create an award-winning documentary film, "Home Is Where You Find It".

Neal has also presented locally and internationally to medical and public health students and faculty, television producers, and others on the power of storytelling to influence health behavior change, including: Utilizing the Media to Effect Social Change; Storytelling and Social Change; Domestic and International Policies Affecting HIV and AIDS; Teens, Sex, and T.V.; and Health Messages in Prime Time Television.
