Venice Arts' Art Mentoring & Education Program has a deep and lasting impact on participants. With a project-based and child-centered pedagogical approach, we engage young people in highly interactive learning that develops imagination and creativity, critical thinking, artistic knowledge, and sophisticated technology skills: all essential to 21st c. success—particularly in Los Angeles, a city where creative industries are the second largest economic sector.
Venice Arts' evaluates programs annually, generating data that informs our growth and development. We also share this data with others in our sector to contribute to the development of the field. Data consistently affirms that the principles and practices of our model align with substantive research showing the significant impact of arts learning and mentoring on youth development across a range of dimensions: creative, emotional, social, academic, and vocational. It also echoes findings indicating that quality arts instruction and mentoring can enhance youths' motivation and self-efficacy, improve social relationships with others, and contribute to a sense of community and a more positive overall outlook on life.
