Venice Arts PHOTOGRAPHY & FILM ARCHIVAL INTERNSHIP

DESCRIPTION
The Photography & Film Archival Intern will gain experience in preserving, updating and archiving Venice Arts’ photographic body of work and documenting classroom activities to add to the Venice Arts’ online library of educational materials. The intern will gain first-hand experience in curatorial, archival, and educational aspects of a community-based arts non-profit. The intern’s primary project will be organizing and editing photographic and film materials from our historical archive in preparation for our 25th Anniversary Exhibition and Gala. Additionally, the intern will be creating galleries and migrating them from our current website to our newly designed site which will be launched in fall 2017 as part of our 25th Anniversary.

This is a ten-week, full-time (40 hours per consecutive week) position, taking place between June 5 and August 25, 2017. The pay is $5,000 for the summer ($500 per week). The workweek will be Monday–Friday.

Venice Arts PUBLIC PROGRAMS INTERNSHIP
Supported by the Getty Multicultural Internship Program


DESCRIPTION
The Public Programs Intern will gain experience in all aspects of coordinating and implementing exhibitions and public programs focused on contemporary photography and documentary film. The intern’s primary project will be coordinating a robust series of exhibitions and public programs for Venice Arts’ 25th Anniversary Celebration, launching this August and continuing through 2018. The 25th Anniversary Series will include exhibitions and screenings of work by artists, photographers, and filmmakers who have been involved with the organization throughout its history. The intern will assist the Associate Director/ Gallery & Public Programs Director with all aspects of producing the exhibitions and surrounding programs, including co-curating exhibitions, producing written materials and signage, developing public programs and screenings, and implementing marketing. The Public Programs Intern will also create galleries and other content for our newly designed website, to be launched in fall 2017 as part of our 25th Anniversary.

Summer and Academic Year Internships
Venice Arts' College Internship Program offers a range of internships that train college students interested in working in the arts, both during the academic year and in the summer months. Internships are available in our Art Mentoring Program, for those interested in developing skills and knowledge in arts education, as well as in administration, exhibitions, marketing, and fundraising.
