Thursday, November 8th & Thursday, November 15th
Venice Arts will be further helping students prepare for life after high school with these two FREE workshops: Portfolio Day!
We will be guiding students in creating an artist portfolio for their college applications, and giving information on applying specifically to art colleges. Two Venice Arts staff and alumni of local art colleges, Brigid McCaffrey and Scott Oshima, will provide one-on-one help, explain the process, and assist in gathering all the required materials. Below is a list of items to bring.
Items to bring with on Portfolio Day:
1) List of schools you are thinking about applying to or list of programs you are interested in.
2) Rough set of pieces you would like to use for your portfolio (art, photography, illustrations, films, etc). NOTE: If there are any artworks created at Venice Arts that you would like us to pull, please let us know ASAP, so we can have them prepared for you!
3) Rough draft of your artist’s statement; if you don’t know what this is please ask Brigid or email her at: email@example.com
Students: You are encouraged to take advantage of this; the better prepared you are in applying for colleges, the more likely you will be accepted into some amazing programs! Many of our students have received scholarships for attending high-quality art schools. Take advantage of the opportunity!

College Day Part 2
Saturday, November 17, 2012
Venice Arts will be holding the second of two special college guidance workshops for our teenage students (and parents), FREE of charge. A team of counselors from Loyola Marymount University will help provide our students with more insight into the process of applying to college and paying for it through scholarships and financial aid. Session two will be more 'hands-on' with counselors helping the students to create a work-plan for each individual student according to their unique goals.
RSVP by Saturday, Nov. 10th, 2012!
