LEARN MORE ABOUT CHRIS:

Chris began taking classes at Venice Arts in 2007. His two younger siblings, Ricardo and Yael, also take classes with the program. He originally enrolled because he was interested in comics and creating video games but found he preferred photography and filmmaking. Chris was then enrolled in Advanced Studies, where students can work on self-directed projects, receive one-on-one mentoring, build their portfolios for college and professional opportunities, and work as paid Youth Art Interns at Venice Arts or with creative businesses in the Venice Media District. Chris was a Youth Art Intern at the Venice Arts Gallery in 2009–2010, and completed an internship at the creative media company SWAY in spring 2010, where he helped with a photography exhibition. In the spring, he traveled to Washington, D.C. to represent Venice Arts at the Kennedy Center’s What’s Going On Now Youth Summit. Two summers ago, he attended the California State Summer School for the Arts with the support of a full scholarship; his CSSSA thesis film recently screened as part of the Youth Arts & Media Festival. The previous summer, Chris received a scholarship to attend an intensive, college-level filmmaking program at USC. Chris is currently attending Santa Monica College, while continuing his involvement with Venice Arts. He plans to be a professional photographer.
