Spark your curiosity and expand your creativity at our
media arts Summer Camp!

Beginning-to-advanced students are welcome in all our summer workshops. Students will develop and expand their creative and technical skills in media arts and storytelling with hands-on activities, field trips and access to professional equipment and software. All materials and equipment are provided!

Venice Arts suggests a $20 donation per class enrollment to help offset the cost of classroom materials.

Summer workshops are 2 weeks long and meet Monday-Friday. Students may sign up for all 4 weeks! 

Registration for new students opens April 1st!

Registration does not guarantee enrollment. ALL paperwork must be completed or received no later than June 28 or your child(ren) will be dropped from the class. For paying families, all fees must be paid with registration.

Families!

For all others, workshops are $800 per 2-week workshop/ $1,600 for all 4 weeks. We do our best to accommodate all children, however, low-income families receive priority. 

Session 1: July 8-19

  • Use light to change the mood, draw in the dark, and create stunning photographs using digital SLR cameras.

  • Explore a variety of animation styles and techniques including 2D and Stop Motion.

  • Develop and print your own 1-page comic; learn the process from storyboarding to digital coloring.

9 am - 12pm

Ages 10 - 13

  • Experiment with a variety of photographic styles and development processes while improving or developing your camera skills.

  • Explore a variety of animation styles and techniques including 2D, StopMotion and Gifs.

  • Develop and print your own 1-page comic; learn the process from storyboarding to digital coloring.

1 - 4pm

Ages 14 - 18

Session 2: July 22- August 2

  • Use a digital SLR to tell the stories of the community and people around you through photographs.

  • Create a short film from screenplay to filming to editing while learning to collaborate as a member of a film crew.

  • Collage multiple forms of media arts including photography, digital drawing, and animation to communicate your unique ideas.

9 am - 12pm

Ages 10 - 13

  • Use the sun to make cyanotypes out of your digital photographs and then animate them into an experimental short film.

  • From research and interviews to filming and editing, create a short film about an important figure in your life.

  • Tell your story by creating a zine using a mix of photography, drawing, collage and more!

1 - 4pm

Ages 14 - 18
