Documentary Projects

After learning various approaches to documentary filmmaking, students apply their learning through the production of one of two documentary projects: a) working in pairs, students make a portrait of a place using observational cinematography, sound recording, and interviewing; or, b) working independently, students cut from six hours of existing documentary footage to create a compelling, short story, while deepening their understanding of the role of an editor in shaping documentary films.
