The ideal candidate has experience teaching youth, a strong foundation in photography, lighting, editing, and visual storytelling, and a commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment. Teaching Artists collaborate closely with Venice Arts staff, receive ongoing training and mentorship, and play an important role in fostering creativity, confidence, and community among young artists.
Application Deadline: July 10, 2026
Volunteer Artist Mentor
Venice Arts’ Media Arts Education + Mentoring (MAE) program offers a volunteer opportunity to serve as a Mentor. Mentors provide support to youth ages 9-18. Alongside the Lead Teaching Artist and a Teaching Assistant, Mentors are members of the faculty team. A typical MAE workshop consists of 8 to 12 youth, Venice Arts aims to provide a mentorship ratio of 1 faculty member to 4 or less youth. This ratio is especially beneficial for working in small groups and providing 1:1 youth support.
