Artist-Mentor, Educator, Volunteer

Up to 50 artists and other community members volunteer each year at Venice Arts. They are the backbone of our inter-generational creative community! Join them!

In Class Mentor

Photographers, filmmakers, animators, and multimedia artists volunteer in the classroom and allow us to provide the 1:4 artist-to-youth-ratio and close mentoring and support for which Venice Arts is known. This is a great opportunity if you’re looking to gain teaching experience or give back to the arts community by supporting aspiring artists.  Read more about time commitments and qualifications, here.

Academic Year Schedule

  • 12 weeks in the Fall (September-December) and 12 weeks in the Spring (February-May). Classes meet once a week for 2 hours, except for our advanced classes on Saturday afternoon, which are 3 hours. We ask that mentors be available for at least 10 of these weeks. Average weekly commitment: 2.5 hours

Summer Schedule

  • During the Summer (July-August) our workshops meet for 2 weeks, Monday-Friday for 3 hours. We ask that mentors be available for at least 3 days a week. Average weekly commitment: 10 hours.

1:1 Mentor

Provide 1:1 support to Venice Arts’ teens and young adults. From building their technical skills to preparing for college and entering the creative workforce, you can be of service! We are looking for experienced professionals to meet with students and review college essays, resumes, cover letters, portfolios, and more.

Special Guest

Limited on time but still want to work with Venice Arts? Share your work and creative journey as a guest speaker or workshop leader! We are always looking for creative individuals to lead in class and independent workshops or present as a guest speaker
