We're thrilled to announce Local Flavor, our new collaboration with Winc, a local wine company that believes in giving back to their community. They made the first three releases of Local Flavor (a Pinot Noir, a rosé, and a Sauvignon Blanc) in collaboration with Venice Arts as a celebration of the Venice community, and made a donation that is providing full scholarships for six children to attend one week of our Summer Media Arts Camp. The bottles feature black-and-white photographs taken by three of our talented Advanced Studies students—Angela F., age 16; Chris R., age 17; and Claude V., age 18.
We are thrilled to announce that Voices of the Forest: Thailand is an Official Selection at the 4th Annual G2 Green Earth Film Festival, which takes place August 5-7, 2016. The film will screen on Saturday, August 6th at 4pm.
Voices of the Forest is a series of short films that Venice Arts created collaboratively with staff and community members of The Center for People and Forests (RECOFTC) as part of a training program in participatory media in 2014. The three short films explore the unique relationship that local communities in Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia have with their surrounding forests, and the role that these communities play in sustaining forest ecology. A big thank you to our friends at PARDEE PROPERTIES, who made this great video documentary short about Venice Arts, created as the first in a new documentary series, Pardee Community, profiling the people, places, and ideas that make the Westside the place we call home.
